Kentucky LEED Certified Building Ground Breaking
Ecofibre and Hemp Black Inc. are in the process of expanding into a new facility. On June 21st, 2019, Ecofibre broke ground a new building in Georgetown, Kentucky. This state-of-the-art facility is aimed to be awarded the highest standard for green building design and construction, LEED Platinum.
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. The certification, which is “a globally recognized symbol of sustainable achievement”, assesses the building on its impact on location and transportation, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation.
Once constructed, the buildings external and internal functions will fully benefit from the surrounding environments located on and around the site. Using sustainable materials, green infrastructure, daylighting principles, and the harvesting of renewable energy, the new Ecofibre facility will reduce its energy need and water consumption while providing a safe and healthy working environment.
