This first-of-its-kind sustainable black ink is made from organic hemp carbon and a chemical-free water base, eliminating petroleum and potentially dangerous fumes while protecting our water and our workers.
Grown and harvested at certified growing farms in the United States, the stalk (hurd) of our hemp undergoes a patented process where it is carbonized at extremely high temperatures. As the first carbon black product to be awarded a Platinum Level Material Health Certificate from Cradle to Cradle, our bio-based HEMP BLACK / eco 6 is optimized for human and environmental health.
All our hemp is grown in the USA at certified growing farms that use natural rainfall and no pesticides. Our soil is also third-party tested to ensure it is free from heavy metals and other contaminants, resulting in our organic black pigment. This pigment is dispersed in a sustainable and non-toxic water based aqueous solution, eliminating the use of petroleum, fossil fuels, and chemicals.
Every black portion of the graphics use HEMP BLACK / ink, including the interior neck label.
Traditional hemp fibers consume large amounts of water and chemicals in order to strip the fiber from the hurd. Due to our commitment to utilizing hemp in a sustainable and innovative way, we decided to use more eco-conscious materials for our t-shirt blanks.
Our ink has been tested to last through normal wear and laundering and since it is made with a water base, it has a softer, less crunchy texture than other t-shirt inks currently being used for screen printing.
